Each province and territory runs its own health insurance plan. A provincial health card gives access to covered services.
Good to know
- Apply for your health insurance card as soon as you arrive in the province.
- A waiting period may apply before coverage starts: plan for temporary private insurance.
- Prescription drugs, dental care and vision care are not always covered by the public plan.
